Staff at Gonville & Caius College have taken part in two days of training led by Mental Health First Aid England.

The proactive training – arranged by Tabitha Barker in the Education and Tutorial Office – is to raise awareness and enhance understanding of mental health issues. The continual professional development of Caius staff shows the commitment of the College and its staff to supporting the community, both students and staff.

Senior Shift Porters John Turton, Jason Edwards and David Lucas Greef, Education and Tutorial Officer Leora Forrester, Assistant Librarian Sara Fedeli, Postgraduate Admissions Assistant Emily Callow and Fellow Li Wan, a Tutor, completed the course last week.

Previously Tutors – the academics who provide pastoral support for students – and staff including Education and Tutorial Office Manager Esme Page, Head Porter Martin May, Deputy Head Porter Pete Boyden, Head of HR Charlotte Hasler, HR Assistant Suzanne Clifford and HR Administrator Ellis Doe have undertaken the course.

Students seeking support should continue to speak to their GP, Tutor, or the Caius Health Centre in the first instance for sign-posting and further support. In critical situations, NHS 111 or the emergency services should be contacted.
