Gonville & Caius College has made 152 grant awards to students for their participation in summer internships/research placements, travel and sport to a sum of more than £34,000.
Students applied to the College for grants to support their endeavours beyond their academic studies.
Bell-Wade Awards for 2023
Through the generosity of two alumni of the College, the Bell-Wade Bursary Fund has been established to assist students with the costs of pursuing excellence in sport as well as academic study.
Fifty students have received a total of £9,965 in 2023 for their participation in 24 sports from rowing, athletics and rugby union, to climbing, dance sport and ultimate frisbee.
Grants are awarded to 28 students to help with the costs of undertaking a summer internship or research placement over the Long Vacation. This year these awards total £8,758. In many cases this provides subsidised accommodation at Caius for students to undertake a placement in Cambridge.
Funds are available for the support of undergraduate students who have well thought-out plans to travel during the long vacation and who would not be able to travel without receiving financial assistance from the College. The grants available are limited and do not meet full costs of travel plans.
Awards totally £15,425 were given to 74 students.
