Caius Choir to perform live on BBC Radio 3 - April 19, 4pm

Gonville and Caius College Choir are scheduled to be perform live on BBC Radio 3 on Wednesday 19 April at 4pm.

The service of Choral Evensong is part of BBC Radio 3's long-standing tradition of broadcasting the best choral music to listeners across the UK and around the world. The service is due to take place during the choir’s Easter tour to Cirencester Parish Church and is open to the public for anyone wishing to be part of the congregation.

The service will celebrate the work of past and present Caius Precentors, under the leadership of current Director of Music and Precentor, Matthew Martin. Music will include Charles Wood’s Evening Service in E flat (Caius Precentor, 1889-1926), Patrick Hadley’s My beloved spake (Caius Precentor, 1938-1962), psalm chants by Peter Tranchell (Caius Precentor, 1962-1989), as well as Matthew Martin’s Easter anthem Haec dies.

Listeners will have the opportunity to tune in live on April 19 and can enjoy the service again on Sunday 23 April at 3pm. The service will also be available afterwards on BBC Sounds (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006tp7r).

Whilst in Cirencester, the choir will also be performing a concert featuring well-known works by Bairstow, Elgar, Howells and Finzi. This will take place on Friday 21 April in the Parish Church. Tickets will be available on the door.
