Meet our Access Officer

Hi, I’m Twm, a third-year English student and the current Access Officer on the Gonville & Caius Student Union (GCSU). My role includes encouraging prospective applicants to apply by getting involved in online and in-person outreach activities, with the aim of increasing diversity.

At Caius, there is a core group of students who are eager to share their experiences and assist candidates interested in applying. Our students are available for you to contact via The Access Platform (link on our website) and are happy to answer any of your queries about college or university life. Our social media accounts are another great way to see what day-to-day life is really like here and to keep up to date with any new projects (@caiusschools Instagram).

Raised in a bilingual Welsh home, I attended my local state comprehensive school Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg in Barry, before coming to Cambridge. Since starting my time at Caius, I really do feel at home – having met so many incredible people from a range of different backgrounds, I can’t imagine spending my time at any other college. Having seen the progress that Caius has encouraged in terms of diversity and state-school admissions, I’m keen to ensure that this success is continued and further built upon.

Along with my two co-opt, we are eager to ensure that Caius continues to build on its impressive access work, making Caius an inclusive and welcoming environment. Working closely with the Class Act, BME officer and the LGBTQ+ Officer, we want to help voice student perspectives on student experience and work on what can be done to ensure that the admissions process is fair, regardless of background.

My email is jcraccess@cai.cam.ac.uk - looking forward to hearing from you!
