Dr Eugenia Cheng (Mathematics 1994) is on a mission to save the world from maths phobia. The Scientist in Residence at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago signed copies of her books to donate to the Gonville & Caius Library during a whistlestop visit to the College last week. She spoke to us about her work to make maths more accessible, inclusive and fun.

While in Cambridge, Eugenia took the opportunity to meet with Cambridge University Press about her new book "The Joy of Abstraction", which aims to demystify abstract maths and bring her research field, category theory, to a wide audience, while also humanising it by using it to think about questions of social justice. The book is out in October.
